Crewe UTC Performance Data: KS4
The new Progress 8 headline measure looks at student progress from KS2 to KS4. Of course, we only have impact on the last two years of this journey and have therefore calculated the Progress 8 measure from the time they start at the UTC until the time they complete KS4.
|Entries for P8||Number of Students||P8 from KS2||UTC P8 from Baseline|
|10 or 9||46||-1.02||+0.31|
|Student not included||5||N/A||N/A|
The Progress 8 score for the time students spent at the Crewe UTC is +0.35; which is above average.
Progress 8 Evaluation for Summer 2018 Examination Results
At Crewe UTC, we are pleased to say that our students make great progress in the 75 weeks that they spend with us from arrival at the start of Year 10.
On joining the UTC our students are roughly a whole grade below where they should be and during the time spent with us they not only make the rate of progress expected at Key Stage 4 but also make up most of the gap from the time of joining the UTC.
The vast majority of our students do not study the English Baccalaureate as they attend the UTC for a specialist curriculum concentrating, in the main on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics).
The UTC has taken note of the following statement from DfE in reaching a rounded judgement, that at Crewe, student outcomes are at least good and destination rates are oustanding:
Progress 8 is not the most appropriate performance measure for university technical colleges, studio schools and some further education colleges. These establishments typically start educating pupils at age 14, with a focus on preparing pupils for their future careers by providing an integrated academic and professional education.
“Other headline measures, particularly pupil destinations, are more important for these establishments.” (DfE Performance Tables Statement 2018)
Successful destinations for 2018 Leavers were 100% with all students in employment, education or training:
