It was a genuine privilege to be invited this month to Salzburg , Austria to see, first hand, the work of EMCO, a global company specialising in the production of class leading engineering machines. The visit also involved looking at the work of Austria’s famous HTLs (Higher Technical Learning) schools – the equivalent of our own UTC.
The HTL Principals, staff and students shared their experiences of advanced learning and how important engineering and design was to them and their futures.
All students were passionate and hard working in their schools and felt that they were very well prepared for jobs in top companies. Their work on advanced engineering projects, ability to code, design and manufacture using world class facilities was awe inspiring.
The Austrian teachers were very proud of their students’ achievements – just as we all will be of the fantastic students choosing to advance their careers at Crewe E&D UTC.

The phrase ‘ young professionals’ is one that will be used in our UTC just as much as in Salzburg.
