It’s 33 days until our new building is officially open and there’s a lot of excitement at Crewe Engineering and Design HQ.
It’s going to be a busy month, with the team moving down to West Street next week and our students enrolling at the end of the month, but it’s full steam ahead to the start of our first term.
We’ve had a couple of queries pop up over the last few of weeks, so we’ve put together some frequently asked questions with the answers you need to know!
When do the students start?
Year 10 and Year 12 will start on Thursday 8th September. The Thursday and Friday (9th September) will be induction days where students, staff and business partners can get to know each other. From the week beginning 12th September students will begin their timetable.
When do students enroll?
Year 12’s are invited to enroll at our West Street Site on Thursday 25th August. You can pop in with your GCSE results anytime from 9am – 1pm to decide the pathway which best suits you, meet some of the staff and take a look around our building.
Year 10’s will enroll on Friday 26th August and can come down to our new building anytime between 9am – 1pm. This day is to give you the opportunity to speak to some of our staff, pick up uniform and take a look around the building.
Please note, these two enrolment days are for students joining in September. If you’re looking to enroll in September 2017, you can find details about our Open Evenings on our events page.
I can’t make enrolment, what do I do?
Don’t worry if you have other commitments on the enrolment day. However, if you’re joining us in year 12 it’s vital we get your GCSE results as soon as possible. If you could email your results to firstname.lastname@example.org on the 25th August and confirm you want a place, we can put this into our system. Drop us an email or call 07718667375 to notify us of this arrangement and make a booking to visit the UTC on a more convenient date.
If any year 10s can’t make enrolment on the 26th August, please get in contact with the team as soon as possible by emailing email@example.com or calling 07718667376. We can then arrange a time for you to come in to pick up your uniform and see our new building.
When can I pick up uniform?
By now, year 10’s should have placed a uniform order with the UTC. If you haven’t, please drop an email to firstname.lastname@example.org as soon as possible. When you come in for enrolment on the 26th August, uniforms will be available to pick up. If you are year 12 and haven’t ordered a tie, you can purchase one on your enrolment day on the 25th August.
When do I have to pay for the uniform?
If you have placed a uniform order and haven’t paid, you have until Monday 15th August to pay.
What PE kit do the students need?
It’s important that our students have physical activity incorporated into their curriculum. This subject will be called Health and Exercise and students can use sporting wear that they feel comfortable in and won’t have to purchase this from the UTC.
Will the students be studying at the West Street site from September?
The Crewe UTC team will be moving in to our building mid August and are very excited for our students to see the new site on enrolment day. From September the students will study from here and will be able to work with some amazing equipment to help them gain a variety of skills and experience.
The work on our second building has begun and is scheduled to be completed in September 2017.
